TIA CERTIFIED TIRE TECHNICIANS

During the fall of 2009, Utz Tire Service began administering the Tire Industry Association exam for all technicians. The exam covers everything from lift placement on the vehicle to wheel assembly removal and installation to balancing the tire. The hands-on certification contains roughly a 50-point checklist that our trainers have to sign off on in order to receive a passing grade. All tire service technicians at Utz Tire Service of Arcade, must complete these examinations annually. This ensures the employees are kept current in all aspects of tire services.

TIA (Tire Industry Association) as well as the RMA (Rubber Manufacturers Association) worked to put this program together. Part of the written test required extensive knowledge on tire dimensions, load and inflation ratings and the proper application to vehicles that we deal with on a daily basis. Once the training is complete, the technicians should have much more confidence in what they are doing in the field, whether it is on the counter recommending certain tires for an application, or in the bays. Technicians who are new to the industry as well as veteran players with years experience have come up to the instructors and said that the information in this training is VERY good and reinforced the good habits that they already do on a daily basis. TIA ( www.tireindustry.org ) and the RMA (www.rma.org) are the leading sources for information and correct procedures in the field of tires and automotive work. They are THE ones who have developed proper industry standards.

		Tire Rotations Tire rotation refers to the movement of tires to different positions on the vehicle to equalize tread wear and is critical to gain the maximum life from your tire investment. Because each tire on your car supports a different amount of weight, your tires can wear at different rates. By rotating your tires, you can extend their useful life.

		On Farm Service Utz Tire has qualified technicians to perform on-site tractor tire repair, replacement or hydrofill with in-stock agricultural tubes, hydrofill (calcium and Rim Guard) and agricultural rims and tires. Utz Tire has two fully-equipped service trucks to meet the demands of our customers to provide a quick and efficient service to keep their tractors up and running.

		Commercial Tire Service Utz Tire technicians will travel on-site to repair large commercial truck tires. We stock new and recap Steer and Drive tires for commercial applications. Commercial Tire service area is Western New York, Rochester to Jamestown.
